About Us

The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) is America’s leading Defense Industry association promoting national security. NDIA is proud to provide a legal and ethical forum for the exchange of information between Industry and government on National Security issues. Our members foster the development of the most innovative and superior equipment, training and support for our warfighters and first responders through our divisions, local chapters, affiliated associations and events.

Greater Los Angeles Chapter Focus

NDIA’s Greater Los Angeles Chapter’s primary focus is the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, and the related Aerospace Industry in Southern California. SMC is the center of technical Excellence for research, development and acquisition of the National Security Space Systems. The center is also responsible for on-orbit checkout, testing, sustainment and maintenance of satellite constellations and other military space systems. The center has an annual budget in excess of $10 Billion per year and manages between $50 and $60 Billion in contracts at any one time. SMC’s organization exceeds 6,000 military and civilian personnel including several remote detachments.

Industry Events
GLAC provides forums for the ethical exchange of relevant technology and policy information through workshops, panel discussions, the annual West Coast Dinner and supports SMC Industry Days.

Community Involvement
The Chapter also provides scholarships to SMC personnel and local ROTC units at UCLA, USC and affiliates of Loyola Marymount University (LMU). Our continued emphasis on supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs has resulted in gifts to local primary and secondary schools to enhance math education and learning.
